New Suzuki Swift Ready To Impress SA

The fourth-generation Suzuki Swift has officially arrived in South Africa, and it’s bringing some exciting updates to this beloved B-segment hatchback.

Known for its fun-to-drive personality and reliability, the new Swift combines subtle exterior evolution with meaningful interior upgrades, a brand-new engine, and advanced safety features. Here’s what makes the latest model stand out.

On the outside, the new Swift retains its youthful and sporty appeal but features noticeable tweaks. The headlights now sport a sleek L-shaped design, while the refreshed grille and muscular bumper add a bold presence. Suzuki’s iconic “floating roof” design remains, but the rear doors now have conventional handles for improved practicality. At the back, you’ll find a reworked tailgate with an integrated spoiler, striking 3D LED taillights, and a more sculpted bumper.

Inside, the cabin receives a modern makeover with a driver-focused dashboard, new horizontal air vents, and upgraded seating for extra comfort and support. Depending on the trim, the new Swift boasts features like a color LCD instrument cluster, split-folding rear seats, and more storage options, making it as practical as it is stylish. Higher trims also include tech upgrades like a touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and even a nine-inch display in the top-spec GLX.

New Engine

Under the hood, Suzuki introduces the Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, which produces 60 kW and 112 Nm of torque. This engine improves power delivery and enhances fuel efficiency, with consumption as low as 4.4l/100km. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual or a CVT, both of which ensure a lively and responsive drive. With a curb weight starting at just 908 kg, the Swift continues to be a fun-to-drive and nimble hatchback.

Built on Suzuki’s rigid yet lightweight HEARTECT platform, the new Swift offers improved handling dynamics while maintaining comfort for daily driving. Updates to the suspension system further enhance the driving experience, making it ideal for both city commutes and spirited weekend drives.

Safety is a top priority, with every Swift equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program, and rear ISOFIX anchors. These features combine with Suzuki’s reputation for reliability to create a compact hatch that doesn’t compromise on security.
