Toyota Ready To Boost Esports, Eracing In 2025

South Africa’s esports scene is gearing up for a thrilling transformation as The Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE), backed by Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), unveils a groundbreaking initiative to make competitive gaming more accessible nationwide. This bold move aims to dismantle barriers and provide aspiring gamers, regardless of their equipment, a platform to showcase their talents.

Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at TSAM, says:

“At Toyota, we believe in the power of sports to create a sense of inclusion and sustainable communities. Our goal is clear: we want to uplift those who do not have access to gaming equipment. This extends beyond typical support; it’s about unlocking potential in gamers who may not have had the chance to experience the thrill of competitive play.”

In partnership with the African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL), South Africa’s leading esports authority, TTGE is set to bring this vision to life. This dynamic collaboration ensures that gaming opportunities reach enthusiasts from the bustling streets of Johannesburg to the serene suburbs of Cape Town. Initially focused on the Western Cape, the initiative is now expanding into Gauteng, inviting more players to step up and showcase their skills.

While FIFA tournaments remain central, TTGE is excited to introduce mobile gaming competitions, further lowering entry barriers and enabling gamers to join the action via their smartphones or consoles. Top performers will receive mentorship from professional gamers and the chance to represent their communities at premier events like Comic Con and the ACGL Gaming Championship (AGC) Tournaments, where South Africa’s elite gaming talent competes on a national stage.

This initiative underscores Toyota’s recognition of the burgeoning esports community in South Africa, particularly the passionate sim racing enthusiasts. By supporting and investing in this sector, Toyota acknowledges the dedication and skill of South African gamers, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic gaming environment.

Crompton concludes:

“By making esports accessible, we are not just levelling the playing field; we are creating a space where anyone can thrive, game, and grow. The future of esports in South Africa is bright, and we invite everyone to be part of it.”
