Why the 488 GTB?
The 488 is a mid-engine supercar produced by Ferrari – the world’s most renowned sports car maker. It came to market in 2015 as the replacement for the formidable Ferrari 458.
Production ran until 2019 when the F8 came to replace it.
The 488 GTB was the entry to the 488 family, but it was by no means an inferior car to the models that were spawned throughout the production period.
Jeremy Clarkson, while still working on Top Gear, drove the Ferrari 488 GTB in 2016. He had nothing but high praise for the Italian automaker’s then-new car, saying: “It’s lovely to drive.
“You can potter about with the gearbox in automatic and it’s not uncomfortable or difficult in any way. That is probably Ferrari’s greatest achievement with the 488. To take something so highly tuned and highly strung and powerful and make it feel like a pussy cat.”
