Kimberley more than a diamond town with old-world charm
A recent drive may not be considered true overlanding in sense. However, we still consider the drive through Kimberley an exploration and adventure nonetheless.
There is a certain fascination and admiration that gets awaken inside of me when I see old houses and buildings. I could easily have loved to have been a time traveler. I would have loved to be in Kimberley in its golden years. It was the first city in the Southern Hemisphere to have electric street lights.
With the likes of Cecil John Rhodes and Barney Barnato, the city was in a class of its own.

It’s said that there once was more millionaires in this area than anywhere else in the world.
When you enter The Ox (Occidental bar restaurant) at the Big Hole, you can feel the old age of that times. You can smell the cigars and old time whiskey. It must have been something to live in those years!
There are more old church in Kimberley than houses. Just kidding. But it does feel like it. And it is magnificent.
