We just drove on several gravel and sand roads, the stuff dreams are made of. It was in the Koringkorrelbaai region en route to the Namaqua National Park. First was the gravel roads from Garies to the Park’s centre gate close to the farm Sarrisam.

And from there it was hard sand roads to Koringkorrelbaai.

What an experience at the campsite! Right next to the beach. There are so many camping spots all along the coast, you can literally camp anywhere and still be alone. This is not a place for those who prefer comfort, though. The only facilities here are enviro toilets. And a rock shelter where you can braai.

You also have to bring your own water, but enough water if you also want to wash the sticky sea salt off your body before bedtime.

There isn’t much wildlife in the Park if you don’t look with intent, but you will spot a gemsbok if you really put keep an eye out.

Despite the lack of supposed comfort, I can’t wait to go back! But I also realised that my body can’t tackle such a venture alone; I’ll be more of a danger to myself than enjoy the trip. Still, I’m already plotting my return!
