‘Unmolested’ Toyota Land Cruiser to get off-road makeover
He did it! After waiting for more than a decade, Gershwin Williams finally managed to purchase one of his dream cars: an 80 Series Toyota Land Cruiser.
And the requirements for this dream car were simple: six-cylinder 4.5-litre petrol engine, manual, and there must be a carburetor.
Gershwin is the founder of the popular off-road group, Off the Beaten Track. Himself and his family, along with friends from both the off-road community and the Off the Beaten Track family, are often out and about on weekends, exploring new tracks and camping as they enjoy the outdoors.
Gershwin is widely associated with his kitted Mitsubishi Pajero, and the Land Cruiser will undergo the same treatment.

He said on Facebook: “This has always been a dream machine of mine, the last of the true 4x4s!
“And after many years I finally managed to find an unmolested, petrol 4.5-litre, manual, carburetor Land Cruiser with a mint interior.
“Here’s to many more travels and watch as we document this build. I’ve learned a lot for the first build of the silver Pajero, baring in mind that that was also my first 4×4 ever. So now we will take all the mistakes made and lessons learned and try to build the best tourer that suits our needs.”
